Capa's Water Taxis

capaswatertaxis.jpg

There was no bridge over the Golden Horn before the 19th century. So, small boats provided transportation between the two shores. Today, even though there are three new bridges, traditional “boatmen” keep the old ways alive. When the legendary photojournalist Robert Capa visited Istanbul in 1946 described them as "Small boats that are water taxis that ferry passengers across the Golden Horn" (magnum) / Haliç üzerine 3 köprü yapılmış olmasına rağmen motorculara yine de iş düşüyor.
